Type of examination: Practical examination

The examination must be conducted on board an inland motor vessel. The characteristics of the watercraft used for the practical examination are governed by the examination regulations. During the examination, the candidate must be capable of performing the prescribed examination elements on a watercraft whose technical parameters comply with the applicable European Union minimum requirements for the given type of vessel.

The examination vessel must be in a navigatable condition and available with the appropriate crew.

The examiners are free to determine the specific content of each examination element.

The candidate may achieve a maximum of 10 points for each element.

All Category I examination elements must be assessed. To successfully pass the examination, the candidate must achieve at least 7 points in each Category I element. For the 16 competency elements classified under Category II, the candidate must achieve a total of at least 96 points within this category in order to pass.

The assessment of Competency No. 16 is not mandatory in the case of a practical examination conducted on board a passenger vessel.

I. Task group – inspecting and preparing the ship for departure
